Solar power (PV) is an ecological source of energy. With the generation of power through the sun, no additional raw material is needed and there are no damaging remains. The production process is streamlined to such a degree that not much is needed to produce a module. A module generates as much power in one-and-a-half year as was necessary to produce it, which is about 300 kWh. At the same time, the industry has taken its responsibility concerning the recycling of PV modules by establishing PV Cycle. Up to 85 % of the module can be re-used in new modules or for other applications. Besides modules, an installation also consists of mounting structures. When developing LightFrame XL, Oskomera Solar Power Solutions has taken into account the impact the mounting structure has on the environment, and has taken steps to limit this impact to a minimum.

Due to the clever design the whole system can be prefabricated. This happens under conditioned circumstances in which production is most efficient. The minimal waste that remains is recycled as effectively as possible. The protective rubber tiles at the bottom of the frames are recycled car tires.

Because of the prefabricated design one no longer has to fit the components on the roof, which limits the waste during assembling the system. The only waste whilst assembling are the strips which keep the bundles together and the packaging from other small mounting material.

Because the complete system is dry assembled and without seams, the complete system can be dismantled very easily at the end of the life cycle. One can choose to build up the system somewhere else (reusage) or recycle the system. Due to the complete metal set up it is very simple to recycle the metal without losing the quality of the material. No high energetic processes are needed when recycling aluminium.

Next to the renewable energy production of the modules and the recycling of the modules, the metal mounting structure has now also an extremely low environmental impact.
