At the heat- and power plant in Barendrecht, Oskomera Solar Power Solutions has installed one the most advanced facades available at this moment. The curtain wall façade consists out of IG units fitted with high power polycrystalline silicon solar cells. These cells convert the sunlight in clean and easy to use power. The cells also prevent overheating in the building due to the fact that the reduce the solar gain. Because the heat and power plant is situated in the middle of a suburb of the city of Rotterdam, additional sound resistant requirements have been added to the specification of the façade. The high powered turbines inside the building can hardly be heard when standing next to the building. The façade system itself is the SF60 profile series, specially designed to integrate solar cells into the building envelop, whilst meeting all European standards and building code on water- and air-tightness.
