In April 2009 the new knowledge and innovation center at the isle of Ameland opened its doors. The roof of this center is fitted with 352 pieces of amorphous silicon thin film solar panels. The solar system is part of a concept consisting out of a heat pump, and rigid insulation measures integrated in the building envelope. Oskomera also installed a solar pv-system for a charge station for a Segway personal transport device.
