LEDinGLASS Outdoor (1/2) LEDinGLASS Outdoor (2/2)

LEDinGLASS Outdoor (LiGO) is a very exciting synergy between facade construction and cutting edge glazing technology. The cooperation between Glassolutions and Oskomera Group yielded an new possibilities in building media façades. An image or company logo can be seen from a long distance away, while still being modest because of the ambient lighting effect.

LIGO offers the designer a wide range of design possibilities. Certain parts of the window can be lit with varying intensities through an intricate silkscreen printing technology. Millions of colors can be chosen, and all types of animations can be created, from very slow to very fast.

Since the color is provided by the LEDs, and not the print, the color can be changed at will. This is made easy by the intuitive programming interface. This can be controlled either by computer, tablet or even smartphone by the facility manager.

All this splendor comes at a very low energy cost. The Oskomera facade, when all 16 panes are fully lit, consumes about 400 Watt, which is as little energy as 15 high efficiency CFL energy saving lightbulbs.

When naturally lit during daylight the print is still clearly visible due to reflection. The silkscreen print is virtually see-through from the inside.

These LiGO glazing panes are fitted to a high tech TKI aluminium facade, which allows the cables to pass without compromising watertightness and airtightness. With its slender design the facade allows for maximum transparency.

The combination of the facade with the electrical installation requires careful planning. Oskomera have a long history of experience in this matter as supplier of building integrated PV (BIPV). The first project, Oskomera’s HQ, resulted in a magnificent façade.
