At Schiphol East the Multi-Tenant TransPort office building is completed which is occupied by Transavia and Martinair. The Oskomera Group has taken care of every aspect relating to the outer walls for this project, comprising the rear construction, wall cladding, glazing and sun protection. Furthermore, it has also delivered and assembled four entrance facades and performed work towards the realisation of a covered walkway that connects the high-rise and the low-rise buildings.
The new head office of both airline companies is distinguishable first and foremost by its shape and location. The five-storey high-rise building and single-storey low-rise building are both shaped like a boomerang. Together, the buildings include an inner area with a garden that contains several recesses through which trees situated in the parking garage below grow. The location of the building has been meticulously harmonised with the surrounding buildings and in such a way that the incidence of sunlight can be used as optimally as possible.
Although it is not visible, the second aspect that distinguishes the Multi-Tenant TransPort building is the fact that the client Schiphol Real Estate and architect Paul de Ruiter have worked to achieve LEED Platinum certification for the building. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a method of assessing the sustainable quality of a building's design, realisation, user-friendliness and management. The platinum certificate is the highest attainable rating, which until now no other building in the Netherlands has achieved.
